Shatira & Robert’s Ashley Ridge Wedding
It’s so heartwarming when family members come together to make your wedding day special. Showing up with gifts and unconditional love is one thing, but offering their professional expertise to add their own sweet touch is a whole other kind of support a bride could get on her wedding day. Shatira was that lucky bride who got her fabulously skilled aunts and uncles to make her wedding day even more memorable. Shatira and Robert, who’d been together for over 8 years, had a beautiful wedding at the Ashley Ridge by Wedgewood Weddings. It was one of the most stunning venues I have ever seen. I absolutely loved photographing their wedding. With the couple’s loving family around us, the experience was even more special!

With the view of the rolling foothills in Littleton, wooden flooring, a waterfall, elevated ceilings with colored lights, generous dancing space, and overall gorgeous interiors, the elegantly rustic wedding venue was perfect for wedding photography. From a photographer’s perspective, I’d give my couple 100 points for choosing this location with breathtaking views as their wedding venue in Colorado.
On the wedding day, Shatira got ready in a beautifully decorated bridal suite at the Ashley Ridge. It had large windows, which gave me an opportunity to get some great bridal and detail shots in natural light. Shatira’s aunt Sharon O’Connor, a professional hairstylist, did her hair, while another aunt Sheri Terry, a fashion celebrity makeup artist, worked her magic on the glowing bride. Shatira was so happy and told me that she couldn’t have asked for anything better than her aunts helping her get ready for her big day.
The room was filled with so much love, warmth, and admiration. There was just great energy all around. I also got photos of Shatira’s bridesmaids, helping her give some finishing touches to her dress. While Shatira dressed up in her gorgeous bridal white, the bridesmaids wore peach and pink. Shatira’s bouquet was also carefully put together with flowers matching the wedding colors.
The Wedding
At the ceremony site, I photographed the adorable flower girls performing their duties very seriously. On the other side was Robert, eagerly waiting for his bride at the altar. When it was time for Shatira to walk down the aisle, Robert had tears running down his face. This is one of those moments every photographer anticipates, and every time it happens, it still makes us want to capture it as perfectly as possible. It’s such a pure, unfiltered emotion, and it truly warms my heart every time I see the groom’s reaction to his bride – whether during the first look or at the altar. Shatira’s uncle Alejandro was the officiant, and as the ceremony proceeded, the beautiful bride got so emotional, and it was time for Shatira to wipe the tears off her face. As this was a Jewish wedding, after the couple said their I dos, Robert followed tradition and broke some glass with his right foot.
After this, we moved to the Fly’n B Park for couple portraits. The park was only 5 minutes away from Ashley Ridge and had picturesque backdrops of the Rocky Mountains. It also had a small lake that helped me add variety to the couple portraits. The newlyweds were so happy and relaxed in each other’s company. For me, this was when they were able to truly soak in the day and the fact that they were now married to each other. They held hands, hugged, kissed, and laughed as I continued to take photos. It was in these moments that I was able to document them as a couple. And I can’t thank them enough for letting me into their space and still being so comfortable.
